Before I get into the list, it’s going to be really important for you to look at how you can change your habits around alcohol, and what you should do before taking a break from the booze. In the modern world, it’s very very difficult to just do nothing. You know, it that’s on the alcohol, then fair enough, if you’ve done your job and get rid of all the alcohol out of your house and you have no real temptations there, then you know, what the hell?

For other people, drinking alcohol out of boredom is a much more active choice – they drink to cope with negative feelings like anxiety or loneliness. But it’s just occurred to me that a lot of my drinking is just habit or boredom.

The trick, of course, is to pay attention to that boredom alert and make a conscious decision about how to respond. “We need to take a deep breath and say, ‘Okay, I’m bored.
